Christmas Light Installation Cost in Raleigh, NC (2026)
Updated September 16, 20266 min read
Short answer: most Raleigh homes start at $700 for professional Christmas light installation with Hang & Glow Crew NC. That price covers a custom roofline design, commercial-grade LED lights that we supply, installation by an insured crew, maintenance visits all season, and takedown in January. Larger homes, wrapped trees, columns and driveway outlines raise the number. Every quote is free and itemized, so you see the exact figure before anyone climbs a ladder.
What the $700 starting price actually includes
The number people compare online is usually not the same job. A $700 install from us is the whole season, not just the labor to hang lights you bought.
- A design consultation at your home, so the display fits your roofline instead of a generic package.
- Commercial-grade LED lights, clips and timers. You do not buy or untangle anything.
- Installation by a trained, insured crew that works on ladders and roofs every day in November.
- Season-long maintenance. If a strand goes dark in week three, we come back and fix it at no charge.
- Takedown after the holidays, with your lights packed and ready for next year.
The five things that move the price
Two Raleigh houses on the same street can quote very differently. These are the factors that matter, roughly in order.
- Roofline length and shape. A single-story ranch in North Raleigh with one long eave is the simplest job. A two-story with three or four front-facing gables and dormers takes more line, more clips and more time on the ladder.
- Height and access. Steep pitches, three-story rear elevations in newer subdivisions, and rooflines over landscaping that cannot take a ladder all add labor.
- Add-ons. Wrapped tree trunks, column wraps, porch outlines and driveway or walkway lines each add to the design. They are also what makes a display look finished from the street.
- Color and pattern. Warm white on the roofline is the classic Triangle look. Multicolor, alternating patterns and mixed bulb sizes take more planning and stock.
- Timing. Booking early does not change the price, but it decides whether you get the install date you want. Our November calendar fills from the top down, starting in October.
Typical Raleigh homes and where they land
A single-story home with a straight roofline is usually at or close to the $700 starting point. A two-story with multiple peaks lands meaningfully above it, and adding wrapped trees or columns raises that again. The most accurate way to place your house is a free consultation; the second most accurate is sending us two photos of the front and telling us which features you want lit.

Residential vs. commercial pricing in Raleigh
Storefronts, restaurants, office parks and HOA entrances are priced separately from homes. Commercial work usually involves more linear feet, timers or photocells, installation outside business hours, and a formal contract with itemized invoicing for the board or property manager. If that is you, see our commercial Christmas light installation in Raleigh page and ask for a site walk.
What you are really paying for compared with doing it yourself
The honest DIY math is not just the cost of lights. It is buying enough commercial-grade strands and clips for the whole roofline, a weekend on a ladder in the cold, replacing the strand that fails in December, and a second weekend in January taking it all down and storing it. Most of our Raleigh clients tried that at least once. What they are buying from us is a display that looks straight from the street, a guarantee that it stays lit, and their weekends back.
